The Dead Gentleman by Mathew Cody

The book is about a boy named Tommy Learner and a girl named Jezebel Lemon. Tommy is a street orphan and part of a secret group called Explorers' Society. Explorers' Society is dedicated to exploring portals to other worlds. But while Tommy is investigating the mysterious basement of an old hotel, Tommy is betrayed and trapped. Over a hundred years later, Tommy's ghost appears in the same basement to deliver a warning to a twelve-year-old Jezebel Lemon. Now Tommy and Jezebel must kill the Dead Gentleman. I liked it because the book was brimming with emotion, adventure, and action.
