Unwind by Neal Shusterman --Jose

Unwind is a pretty serious book. Unwind means that every part of your body is donated to kids who need it. The main characters are Connor, Risa and Lev. All of these kids are running away from their homes because they are going to be unwound. Risa is an orphan with musical skills but not enough to keep her from being unwound. Connor fights at school and with his parents, which is the reason they sign his order. Lev is a tithe, which means he was born to be unwound. They all meet and run from the cops until they turn 18.

What I liked about the book was how it changes from point of view from the three kids. The part I liked the most is that all the kids connect in some way but are really different. The idea of unwinding in the future is something I wouln’t like to face or even think about.

Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer

Eighth Grade becomes a train wreck for Vladimir Tod. Middle school is bad enough for a vampire. How much more can Vlad take when a new teacher puts his secret in danger???

Heather Brewer blends mystery and comedy into one; but for Vlad it is a PAIN IN THE NECK!

Cryer's Cross By Lisa McMann--Caitlyn

Cryer's Cross is exciting and creepy. You can't wait to see what happens next. When you are reading it, it is like you can imagine the book in your head like it was TV. What I really liked in this book is how Kendall is trying to find out what the townspeople are hiding even if is can be risky!

Cracker: the Best Dog in Vietnam by Cynthia Kadohata --Justin

Cracker is a book about a dog named Cracker who needs to be given away because the apartment landlord has a rule against dogs and Cracker’s owner decided to give Cracker to fight in the Vietnam war as a tracking dog. She is paired with a soldier named Rick. Rick doesn’t believe Cracker will be a lot of help. But she proves him wrong. She sniffed out bombs and enemy soldiers.

I like it because it has a lot of action. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dogs or is interested in the Vietnam War or both!

Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce--Celeste

Big Nate is very funny and crazy. If you read this like I did, you will surely burst out laughing. It's mainly about a boy named Nate. He is trying to fit into the popularity chain by acting like a bad boy. The funny part is he "thinks" he is friends with this cool kid. Whenever Nate tries to talk to him he says, "Hey my man what's up?". The cool kid punches him, kicks him, and humiliates him in front of all his friends. Nate's Dad is very geeky because he wants Nate to wear brown plaid pants. Weird Huh? Well if you want to read a comical book, I recommend this to you and everyone else.

Tony--- Scepter of the Ancients

Scepter of the Ancient’s is a very good book. It’s about a girl named Stephanie, not long ago her uncle died. He left her a mansion, but also left her a new friend. He is a skeleton detective; he walks, talks and does magic. Since Stephanie is hanging out with him, she has some magical powers as well so she can fight evil. However she must hide these powers from her parents and the world. She and S.P. must find the Scepter of the Ancients (a weapon capable of destroying anyone or anything before the Faceless Ones steal it for themselves. No worries—she has bones on her side.

If you like adventures book this a book for you. The story dashes from one cliff hanger to the next.

Keven -- Scepter of the Ancients by Skulduggery Pleasant

Scepter of the Ancients is a fast-paced book that people will be skipping meals and sleep to get to the end of. In it a young girl named Stephanie finds out that her uncle is dead. At the funeral, Stephanie sees a strange man in a tan coat that covers most of his face and the rest of his face is covered by huge sunglasses. The top of his head is covered by a hat. Stephanie finds out that the man isn’t a man at all; He was actually a talking, walking skeleton named Skulduggery Pleasant. Skulduggery is an Elemental wizard so he has powers that are element based. Neferian is an Adept wizard which means he has powers that are not based on elements. He has a hand that is completely skinned. His hand is magical. If it points at you will die an agonizing death. The rest of the book is about Skulduggery’s path to revenge.

Orange House by Paul Griffin---Nick A.

Orange houses is about Mik a girl with hearing aids; Jimmi whose fiancĂ© and a child died and who’s a homeless veteran drug addict; and Fatima a illegal immigrant. All live in poor neighborhood. Mik’s mom has to work two jobs just to stay in their house. Jimmi finds Fatima in a park and introduces her to Mik. They become friends. So Fatima and Mik make this painting of the statue of liberty with wings.

This book was really sad all though they had good characters and it was kind of funny in parts. Clues at the top of the chapters make you want to keep reading. This book is also very realistic. I recommend this book to reader who like drama.

Cryer's Cross By Lisa McMann--Catalina

It all started out with the disappearance of Tiffany Quin and Nico and a desk from a school for delinquent boys. When a young girl Kendal Fletcher loses the one closest to her, everything goes insane. Only one question comes to mind over and over , “Is it a something or someone”. It’s a living nightmare as Kendal tries to figure answer this question. Her life is full of action , horror , suspense and mystery. Reality becomes her nightmare, she doesn’t know the difference between her OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) or the voices in her head. They know what’s coming but she doesn’t. She’s in danger that may lead to her death.

This book is amazing. It leaves you craving for more.
Every minute. Every second. Each day. You are on the edge.
Mystery, death and love fill all 240 amazing written pages. Lisa McMann works wonders in every single page.

Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann---Mariah

Kendall Fletcher is wide awake in the middle of a nightmare. It all started when Tiffany Quin disappeared. Then her closest friend otherwise her boyfriend, Nico, disappears. The desk he sat in at school is the same one Tiffany sat in. She notices that there is a new scratching in his desk. When she runs her fingers over it she hears Nico’s voice. She can’t decide whether it’s her OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) or if there’s spirits. The voices take her on an adventure that she would never even think of.
Cryer’s Cross is a great book. But I do not advise reading this if you are under 4th grade. It is a very complicated book and it has some sophisticated parts in the book. I love the dialog and the way she gets you to believe one thing and then another thing. It’s like “oh my gosh” you saw it coming and then, it hits you out of nowhere. The context of the book is just amazing! Lisa McMann is a great writer with great ideas and it would be great if she did the Sequel.
